Study on magnetic shielding for performance improvement of axial-field dual-rotor segmented switched reluctance machine

A category of permanent-magnet-shield (PM-shield) axial-field dual-rotor segmented switched reluctance machines (ADS-SRMs) are presented in this paper. These topologies featured by using the magnetic material to shield flux leakage stator and rotor parts. Besides, deployed magnets weaken saturation iron core, thus increasing main flux. Hence, torque-production capability can be increased effectively. All PM-shield proposed designed based on equivalent circuit (MEC) model ADS-SRM, which is original design deploying no magnet. The features all compared with terms field distributions, linkages, phase inductances, torque components, followed their motion-coupled analyses capabilities, copper losses, efficiencies. Considering cost reduction stable ferrite-magnet supply, an alternative proposal ferrite applied shielding. magnet demagnetization analysis incorporated thermal behavior performed for further verification motor performance.
